Is Chris Tucker backing out of “Last Friday?”
Seems like Chris Tucker is on the verge of disappointing fans. It seems like Tucker has not “confirmed” his involvement on the “Last Friday.” Rumors have been spreading like wildfire that the born again Christian Tucker would come back to regain his iconic role as “Smokey.” In an interview with Tom Joyner, Tucker seems to leave people on the fence on him joining the cast.
Tom Joyner Morning Show:
“I don’t know. I talked to Ice Cube, because it’s such a big rumor and people get mad if you say you ain’t doing something so I’m real careful. Me and Cube, we’re talkin’ about it. They’re workin’ on a script,” said Tucker. “I don’t think it’ll be as special as the first one.”
When co-host J. Anthony Brown made reference to the rumor swirling about him not returning to previous ‘Friday’ movies because he had grown to be too big of a star, Tucker indirectly answered the question by saying that he had simply moved on to more diverse roles, in films such as Money Talks, The Fifth Element, Dead Presidents, and others. According to Tucker, his career goal at that point was not to be “put in that box.” He further stated that he was smart at that time in his career and needed to go back to that, reiterating his stance on appearing in the ‘Last Friday’ movie:
“We’ll see what happens, but I doubt it. … I don’t know if we can find that magic again.”
