Fighting between soldiers of rival leaders rages in Ivory coast killing 800 people so far. Soldiers  battled for the presidential palace, and military bases in the main city Abidjan.

Reporters heard sporadic gunfire and explosions near the presidential palace throughout the day. While the death toll escalates, both sides shows no signs of backing down, (Reuters).

“We are going to fight to the death. We die or we win,” Noel Dago, a pro-Gbabgo militia fighter by his house said by phone.

This week, The International Committee of the Red Cross reported at least 800 dead in intercommunal violence in the western Ivorian town of Duekoue.
