Hip Hop Caucus

The documentary “HOME” tells the story of a growing grassroots movement led by cultural leaders, musicians, actors, environmental leaders, and community activists called People’s Climate Music – organized & produced by the Hip Hop Caucus, Malik Yusef, The Private Plane and its partners.

Climate change is a life and death issue for urban communities in the U.S, and the film “HOME” will reach millions of viewers to inspire climate change awareness and action, making the suffering and injustice caused by dirty energy visible. “HOME” will live exclusively on Vimeo until it becomes readily available on Amazon Instant Video.

“We made this film because we know the pollution linked to climate change is disproportionately concentrated in poor communities and communities of color, contributing to the extremely high rates of asthma, cancer, heart disease and lung diseases,” said Rev. Lennox Yearwood Jr., President & CEO of the Hip Hop Caucus. “We also know from Hurricane Katrina that it is the poor and people of color who get left behind in extreme weather disasters, which are increasing in strength and frequency because of climate change. This is why climate change can no longer be m a political issue. It is a social justice issue, a civil and human rights issue, and one we can solve in our generation, for all future generations, if we come together to make a change.”

The soundtrack to the film, with the same name “HOME”, is available on iTunes at and features eleven tracks from Ne-Yo, Common, Elle Varner, including original productions and covers of iconic songs written by Joni Mitchell, Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye and more.
